Head of Department Ole Thastrup Leaves ILF to Manage Listed Biotech Company

Ole Thastrup on Aktiedagen Stockholm 17 October 2017.

Ole Thastrup says the following about his decision to leave the department:

‘On 24 November I faced a very difficult dilemma. That day I was in Stockholm opening the biotech company 2cureX’s first day of trading at the Nasdaq stock exchange. After we had finished the champagne and the dizziness had worn off, I realised that I could not possibly head a large department at UCPH while managing a listed company. But it is with great sadness that I leave my position at the University of Copenhagen, where I have spent seven amazing years – first at the Department of Pharmacy and later at the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences’.

Dean Ulla Wewer sympathises with Ole Thastrup’s career choice, which is an inspiring success story, and she wishes him good luck with the company:

‘I have been very pleased with our collaboration and am very proud of the strong position held by ILF today’, says Ulla Wewer.

The Dean’s Office has decided to appoint Professor Helle Waagepetersen as head of department ad interim as of 1 January 2018.

‘I have great respect for Helle’s research, teaching and personal qualities. Helle is also respected at ILF and the rest of UCPH – ILF is in safe hands’, Ole Thastrup says about his replacement.

Dean Ulla Wewer is planning a farewell reception for Ole Thastrup to be held in January 2018.
