The common theme of our research is design and synthesis of novel tool compounds for investigating the cellular and molecular function of biological targets. Our overall goal is to identify novel therapeutic principles.
We develop pharmacological probes and drug leads by engineering proteins, peptides and natural products. We characterize drug target functions through state-of-the-art structural biology, biophysics, functional assaying, and computational biology.
We focus on a range of biological systems, particularly those that regulate brain function, as well as elements and processes implicated in many neurological disorders.
Translational Pharmacology covers pharmacological research in the circle of interaction between petri dish and patient.
