My research is focused on allosteric modulation of a6* nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (a6* nAChRs). This receptor subtype is believed to be a putative drug target in Parkinson’s disease, addiction and pain. However, there is lack of a6*-selective compounds and the therapeutic potential of the receptor is therefore poorly elucidated. I hope I can contribute with new knowledge with regard to the therapeutic potential of this receptor and contribute to the understanding of the mechanism behind allosteric modulation of nAChRs.
