My research is focused on the functionality of GHB and its analogues. GHB is currently being used as a drug of abuse (named Fantasy) and for treatment of narcolepsy (Xyrem); however, its physiological and pharmacological role is unknown. During my PhD project, I will establish assay(s) to characterise the pharmacological responses of GHB analogues. The aim is to obtain a cell-based assay in which we can charaterise pharmacological tool compounds.
