When exploring the circuits of the brain, one gets the same feeling of infinity as when gazing at the stars on a Scandinavian winters night…. The reason for this is the vast amounts of neural connectivity and complexity of the brain.
The research in my group evolves around deciphering the neural circuits of affective disorders. We are particularly interested in how affective and motivational states relate to each other and are encoded in the mesolimbic reward system. More specifically, we are working on uncovering the neurocircuitry responsible for pathologies such as depression and negative affect during inflammatory disorders using state-of-the-art circuit techniques, in the hope that we can find better treatments against these disease.
