Cyclic peptide drug discovery in the Rogers Group
The mission of the Rogers group is to discover molecules with never-seen-before pharmacological activities, for use as chemical tools and future drugs
Cyclic peptides excel at binding. They can tightly and specifically interact with proteins that are reluctant to bind traditional small molecule drugs. In the Rogers lab, we use a mixture of chemistry and molecular biology to isolate such cyclic peptides de novo. We ‘reprogram’ nature’s peptide synthesis machinery - the ribosome - to synthesize and screen trillions of unique cyclic peptides to discover promising drug-like biopharmaceuticals.
