Danish Medicinal Plant Biobank

Danish Medicinal Plant Biobank facilitates data-driven sampling and high-throughput screening for drug lead compounds and biological-pharmacological activity in 300+ Danish medicinal plant species.

DMPB is open access and welcomes public and private research cooperation.

About the facility

DMPB holds samples representing all plant species known through Danish herbal drug history - from year 1200 to the present.

All samples are collected in Denmark in 2020-22 and linked to herbarium vouchers, DNA-preserving samples, photos and a range of metadata (incl. drug history, chemotaxonomy and ethnobotany). Samples consist of 1 g dried, ground, extraction-ready material.

As of June 2022 DMPB holds a -60°C stock of 500+ unique samples from 300+ species of plants.

How to get access

Access to Danish Medicinal Plant Biobank samples, database and meta-database is free for members of ILF, IF and external collaborators by appointment.
