Molecular Pharmacology of Neurotransmitter Receptors in the Anders A. Jensen Group
The focus of the Anders A. Jensen group is to develop novel pharmacological tools for neurotransmitter receptors, to delineate the molecular basis for receptor signaling and for ligand-mediated modulation of them, and to explore the physiological functions of and the therapeutic potential in these receptors.
The Anders A. Jensen group explores the molecular pharmacology of the superfamily of pentameric ligand-gated ion channels that mediate the fast signalling of acetylcholine, GABA and serotonin and of G-protein coupled serotonin receptors. The group employs of a wide range of molecular biology techniques, binding and functional assays, and electrophysiological recordings to address its research questions. The research of the group is multidisciplinary, and it is conducted in collaborations with medicinal chemists, computational chemists, structural biologists and in vivo pharmacologists.
